From registration and BO registration to licence plates: At the beginning of the 1990s, all heavy (>3,500 kg) trailers and semi-trailers had to have their own licence plates. Up until then, the licence plate of the towing vehicle was used.
For the changeover, the government had decided that each vehicle had to be shown separately by its owner for verification at the local post office in order to pick up the licence plate. This was neither practical nor feasible for large fleets.
TRTA, together with other interest groups, made it possible for vehicle fleets with more than 50 semi-trailers to submit their administrative changeover documents in digital form.
